Realistic painting and illustration challenge an artist's skill in dealing with perspective, light and shadow, colour, proportion, texture, composition, imagination, story telling. We learned a great deal from the old classical paintings and also from the 20th century paintings by prominent marine and aviation artists.
We recently experimented on using Illustrator and Painter on the computer to mimick a painterly style. The one below is inspired by the Travel Poster artists of the early 20th century. |
